I Love Bar Stools

I just love bar stools, especially the swivel ones, but since I relocated and now live abroad I had to let go of my favourite seat. I know these are bar stools and restaurant stools, but they are great for eating in the kitchen in my village house.

Well, I had decided a long time ago to hunt for another swivel stool that I can spend hours in fidgeting away to my heart’s content, but there just isn’t anything I like in my local area and I don’t want to travel to a city to try and hunt one out there. Ben Nevis Here We Go - Again

It was over thirty years ago when I climbed Ben Nevis, the tallest mountain in the UK. I remember is well as the preparation for the climb was made weeks before. It is quite a tricky climb for a novice who hadn’t done anything like this before, but I was fit and was accompanied by a friend who was experience climber. It was him who suggested I gave it a go.

Well thirty year later and I am planning another climb up the same mountain later this year. This time though I am going to prepare in a better way. My main problem last time was inappropriate clothing. I may be warm at the base point but as you climb up each step it gets colder and colder. The rough terrain takes it out on your climbing as well as rocks rub against the material and it not good quality get ripped to shreds. Footwear has to be just as important in terms of comfort and protection. A pair of Doctor Marten’s isn’t good enough as I found out the first time around.

There are specialised shops around in the high street, but their choices are usually limited and over-priced. If they don’t have the right stuff in stock why should you have to make do with something you don’t really want? Many high street shops get there stuff online anyway, mark up the prices and sell it. So why don’t you cut out this and going shopping online yourself?

Proper Mountain Climbing Gear is what you want and it has to be fashionable as well for the picture at the top of the mountain. Brands such as North Face, Marmot, Mountain Hardware, Petzl and Suunto are made to the standards required and at good prices. The best buys are online and sales are now on. Yorkshire Tea - A Review

I have drunk tea all my life and had the good, the bad and the ugly when it come to having tried countless different brews. Tea can be enjoyed immensely, but one bad cup could put you off for life tea is not just tea. When it comes to price and quality the two don't always tie up. Why pay over the odds when you could buy a value box for a fraction of the cost.

The first time I tried Yorkshire tea was when I moved to Yorkshire. How naive was I to think that Yorkshire tea came from Yorkshire!

Yorkshire Tea comes in a large cardboard box with a hinged lid and wrapped in cellophane. Getting the cellophane off was impossible and I remember how much of a temper I was in when trying to get it open. The box is 100% cardboard so it can be recycled or used as a good barbeque fire starter.

There is a great moment when you firs open the box with the smell of tea just hitting you. However if you don't use the teabags quickly the freshness soon goes. It is best to transfer them into an airtight container even though the box is designed to store them long-term. The tea once made is quite strong and if you like strong tea this is a good choice.

Overall this makes decent cup of tea, albeit quite an expensive buy. There are of course more expensive teas out there that don't come close.

Finally, don't ever believe it is made in Yorkshire, even with global warming that is impossible.

A Special Day For A Special Taxi

In 1976 I visited America and made friends with a family there based in Boston. All this time after 33 years we have kept in touch through letters and more recently through email. This year one of the family members is getting married and they plan a big wedding and I have been invited to go over and attend. Wow! I am looking forward to going in September and have booked two weeks of work to make a holiday of it.

The American family are telling me about the plans they have made. Pictures of the church that the marriage is to be held and a top class Boston 5 Star Hotel where the reception is to take place. They haven't decided on where the honeymoon is to be yet, it is bound to be somewhere hot, but there's lots so time for them to plan this right now and with he recession many places will be available.

The pictures they sent me through email were all very impressive I can't wait to go. As always the Americans do things on a big scale there. But the most impressive picture they sent me was of the Boston Limousines they intend to use. Weddings are once in a lifetime events and they wanted the very best for their son, so they decided to take on a Boston Limousine Service. Motorcycle 'Safety' Helmet? No WayI

I saw this motorcycle helmet and was staggered that they claim it was approved as safe to wear on the road. The main reason for crash helmets is to reduct the impact to the head, but it doesn't stop there.

The main reseaon conventional crash helmets are smooth is to create a skidding action when thrown from a motorcycle therefore reducing the risk of the riders' head becoming jarring or snagged. this certainly wouldn't skid or slide smoothly with the ornaments on.

A motorcycle fashion helmet yes, but a safety helmet no way!

I looked at this product with great interest and initially thought it was a great idea as it was economical and used clean energy. However the more I thought about it the more it reminded my of the Clive Sinclair vehicles of 20 odd years ago. The idea has been gre-invented.
